Placement: you know the top ~ words (tested ) ·

Already know some ?

Take the 2-minute placement test — it binary-searches the frequency list to find your level, so you skip words you already know.

Get started in 30 seconds

  1. Load the sample Spanish list or paste your own frequency list in .
  2. Add your LLM API key in (optional for review, needed for chat & examples).
  3. Review daily; chat with a persona when you want output practice.

Why it's built this way

Words are taught in corpus-frequency order and scheduled by FSRS-7 (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler), which targets your chosen retention rate. Review prompts ask you to produce the word from its meaning — retrieval practice transfers to real use. Personas are instructed to elicit self-correction (prompts) rather than silently recasting errors, and to weave your due words into conversation.

Placement test

About 8 quick rounds of 4 words. The test binary-searches the frequency list to find where your vocabulary runs out.
Only mark a word if you could actually explain or use it — guessing just inflates your placement with words you can't read.

Chat needs an API key — add one in . Keys are stored only in your browser.

Say something in — mistakes welcome, that's the point.

Import a frequency list

One word per line, most frequent first. Optional translation after a comma, semicolon, or tab. Ready-made lists: hermitdave/FrequencyWords.

Describe who the tutor is and how they teach. This becomes their system prompt, combined with your word-deck context and a self-correction teaching policy.
